Medical board to present sessions
on licensure and enforcement

The Texas Medical Board will take to the road in 2010 to hold a series of presentations throughout the state designed to inform and educate physician licensees, medical students, and residents about the regulation of the practice of medicine through physician licensure and enforcement.

Each session will follow a similar agenda, presenting an overview of the TMB licensure and registration processes; an overview of complaint, investigation, and disciplinary processes; and a review of board rules and common violations; followed by a question-and-answer period. All presentations occur in the evening.

Some of the sessions have already passed, but many are still available:

• McAllen – June 24
• San Angelo – July 7
• Austin – Aug. 3
• Temple – Aug. 17
• Lubbock – Sept. 20 (licensees and public)
• Lubbock – Sept. 21 (students and residents)
• Fort Worth – Nov. 9 (licensees)
• Fort Worth – Nov. 10 (residents, students, and faculty)
• Galveston – Nov. 30

Attendees licensed to practice medicine in Texas will receive credit for two hours of formal ethics CME that can be applied toward TMB registration requirements; however, this is not considered AMA PRA Category 1 Ethics Credit. There is no cost to attend, but those receiving the two credits toward their registration requirement will be charged a $10 processing fee onsite (check or exact cash payment only).
