Special guest at Thursday’s Town Hall to give insider’s look at state politics

updated 06.21.10

Act quickly to make sure you get the best deal on the premier conference for family physicians. The hotel group rate and the early-bird registration period end on Monday, June 28. TAFP has planned lots of great special events, education, and more, that you won’t want to miss.

You’ve seen the coverage in newspapers and on television broadcasts around the state: between the budget shortfall, redistricting, and an imminent battle over scope of practice, the upcoming 82nd Texas Legislative Session will be one for the record books. Get an insider’s look into Texas politics by attending the Town Hall Meeting at this year’s Annual Session and Scientific Assembly, July 21-25 in San Antonio. The Town Hall Meeting will be held with TAFP’s Commission on Legislative and Public Affairs from 7 - 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 22. Special guest Harvey Kronberg—writer, editor, and publisher of political newsletter The Quorum Report—will give you the scoop on what to expect in 2011.

If politics aren’t for you, TAFP’s committee, commission, and section meetings offer family physician members a chance to influence Academy policy on a host of issues: public health, education, membership, research, and more.

As always, the star of Annual Session is the high-quality Continuing Medical Education. Starting Thursday with three afternoon concurrent seminars, lectures continue Friday, Saturday, and through noon on Sunday, offering a total of 24 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Come a day early for the SAM Group Study Workshop on Asthma or to learn a new procedure at the NPI Office and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Workshop, both available with an additional registration fee.
