TAFP creates new CME symposium
Save the date for Primary Care Summit – Dallas/Fort Worth, Nov. 5-7, 2010
TAFP is proud to announce the newest addition to the annual symposia series: Primary Care Summit – Dallas/Fort Worth. CME offerings are constantly evolving and the Academy strives to tailor CME programs to best meet the needs of members. After evaluating the changing educational grant environment and a tough economy, TAFP chose to put Doctors in Motion (previously Winter Symposium) on hold in 2009. TAFP surveyed members at the end of 2009 on what they would consider to be the ideal symposium. Results showed that members want CME over multiple days, during the weekend, and with more than eight credits a day. With a regular program in Houston and Austin each year, the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex was the obvious choice for the new conference.
At Interim Session in March 2010, TAFP’s Commission on Annual Session and CME recommended to the Board of Directors that TAFP create a Primary Care Summit for the Dallas/Fort Worth area based on the popular and successful Primary Care Summit held in Houston each year. Attendees of the new program will earn up to 24.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits, including an ethics hour, over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning. Attendees can also make progress toward their American Board of Family Medicine Maintenance of Certification at a SAM Group Study Workshop. Plus, all activities will be held at the beautiful Westin Galleria in Dallas.
“We’ve taken the best elements of one of our most popular weekend CME events and are bringing them to our members in Dallas,” says Rebecca Gladu, M.D., chair of TAFP’s Commission on Annual Session and CME. “The combination of CME, shopping, ice-skating, and restaurants makes it a great learning experience for you and a fun destination for the whole family. Plus, the timing in November means you can take care of some holiday shopping. We hope to see you there!”
Mark your calendars and plan to join TAFP in Dallas for the inaugural Primary Care Summit – Dallas/Fort Worth, Nov. 5-7, 2010. For more information, go to www.tafp.org.
