Prior Authorization Committees seeking members

The Texas Department of Insurance is currently recruiting members for two significant Prior Authorization Committees created by the 83rd Texas Legislature.

The Prior Authorization Committee for Medical Care or Health Care Services was established by Senate Bill 1216 and is in need of physician and hospital representatives to serve as members.

The Prior Authorization Committee for Prescription Drug Benefits was established by Senate Bill 644 and is in need of members from the following stakeholder groups: physicians who have NOT been employed or consulted for an insurance company, other prescribing health care providers, consumers with prior authorization experiences, hospitals, pharmacists, specialty pharmacies, pharmacy benefit managers, specialty drug distributors, health benefit plan issuers, and health benefit plan networks of providers.
