Capitol Update: Watch TAFP’s Capitol Report

Lawmakers filed more than 2,300 bills last week before the first major deadline in the 83rd Texas Legislature. After the session’s 60th day, which was Friday, March 8, legislators cannot file new bills unless they are local bills, emergency appropriations, or have been declared emergency legislation by the governor. Action at the Capitol will begin to pick up now, as committees can begin moving bills to the House and Senate floors for debate.

TAFP is sifting through the newly filed legislation and will report back soon, but for now, watch our latest edition of Capitol Report, TAFP’s legislative news video. The Physician of the Day program brings family physicians to the Capitol each day of the legislative session to provide health care to members of the Capitol community.
