Lindsay Botsford, MD, MBA, CMQ, FAAFP, was recently appointed to serve on the Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee. The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 created PTAC to improve payment for physicians who care for Medicare patients. Botsford also currently serves as TAFP Treasurer.

The AAFP Foundation awarded Casa El Buen Samaritano a Family Medicine Cares USA existing clinic award. The grant is given to free clinics in areas where primary care services have not been available to the medically underserved. Casa El Buen Samaritano provides family medicine physicians with opportunities to provide much-needed care for local patients. TAFP member Eric Lee, MD, is a volunteer physician for Casa El Buen Samaritano and worked with the clinic in Missouri City to receive the grant from the Foundation.

TAFP student member Breanna Chachere, MPH, was appointed to serve as AAFP’s 2023 student liaison to the Student National Medical Association. She will represent the national Academy to SNMA, an organization that focuses on “diversifying the face of medicine.” Chachere is a third-year student at the University of Houston School of Medicine.
