Register now for DOT Certified Medical Examiner Course
TAFP is co-sponsoring a course May 10 in Austin for physicians wishing to examine and issue medical certificates to interstate truck drivers. Physicians who currently examine drivers or would like to begin must take a certification course and pass the exam by May 21, 2014. HPV information to urge patients to vaccinate
A letter recently signed by AAFP President Reid Blackwelder, M.D., and other organization presidents urges physicians to recommend that patients vaccinate against HPV. The letter calls the human papillomavirus virus vaccine ‘cancer prevention’ and includes facts and statistics that can be shared with patients when recommending that they be vaccinated. The AAFP released a series of free online tutorials to aid physicians who own their practices in financial practices. “Five Key Metrics for Financial Success in Your Practice” helps you evaluate your practice’s revenue cycle. The series also includes resources for closing and selling practices.  
AHRQ resources for physicians and patients
With May being National Stroke Awareness Month, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is pushing its heart disease resources for both physicians and patients. The Treatment Options website includes educational materials for patients on heart conditions, diabetes, pediatric health, and much more. AHRQ’s clinician website provides information and research summaries for treating a variety of health issues.
