AAFP ICD-10 implementation tools
To prepare members for the Oct. 1, 2014 implementation date of ICD-10, AAFP has created a page of free resources pertaining to the new coding set. These practice advancement resources include a timeline, a cost calculator, and a list of frequently asked questions. Physicians can also purchase a set of ICD-9 to ICD-10 referential flash cards from AAFP to help ease the transition.

The U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration will host another National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day this Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Encourage your local community to safely dispose of their unused prescription and over-the-counter medications by participating. Nov. 13 legal seminar in Dallas
The Texas Orthopaedic Association will host a free legal seminar on physician employment contracts Nov. 13, 6 - 7 p.m., at the Polsinelli office in Dallas. Attorneys will discuss current federal Stark regulations and state and federal anti-kickback statutes. RSVP for the event by Nov. 7.  
Affordable Care Act interactive map
AAFP recently released an interactive map providing state-specific information about the Affordable Care Act. Details include type of marketplace, Medicaid office and marketplace websites, and links to each of the state’s community Navigator contractors.  
NPI announces 2014 conference dates and new ICD-10 course
The National Procedures Institution has announced its locations and dates for their 2014 conferences. The schedule includes conferences in Fort Worth, San Diego, Las Vegas, Chicago, Orlando, and Phoenix. In addition to the courses previously offered, they have added an ICD-10 course to help physicians successfully transition to the new code set. See all 2014 NPI conferences here.
