AAFP will hold a free webinar on Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. CST with TransforMED’s Delta-Exchange network to guide family physicians through the details related to this year’s Medicare fee schedule and discuss ways to keep your practice profitable. Kent Moore, AAFP senior strategist for physician payment, and Debra Seyfried, M.B.A., C.P.C., AAFP coding and compliance strategist, will explain rules and provisions related to transitional care management, Medicaid and Medicare payment parity, annual wellness visits, and federal programs such as the Physician Quality Reporting System and e-prescribing. AHRQ offers free training module to improve patient outcomes |
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality released a training module meant to better primary care outcomes through improved communication and teamwork among providers. The Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety module includes a PowerPoint presentation, slides, and many instructional videos, all found at www.ahrq.gov/teamsteppstools/primarycare/.

TRCC launches new website with free respite care resources |
The Texas Respite Coordination Center, a grant-supported project under the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, recently launched www.taketimetexas.org, a website that offers family physicians, caregivers, and service providers multiple resources related to respite and caregiving. The site is the first of its kind and includes a searchable database of over 900 respite providers across the state of Texas, as well as educational materials and resources for caregivers and providers alike. 2011 Travis County documents available Publications highlight pain medicine and accidental lethal drug overdoses |
The Texas Pain Society participated in the creation of two publications regarding pain medicine and accidental lethal drug overdoses in Travis County during 2011. The Texas Medical Association has released a PDF on the topic that is now available for purchase. The Travis County Medical Society highlights the subject on page 14 of its November/December journal.
