Learn about payment reform models with TAFP online videos
Are you lost in the maze of payment reform proposals? Get help navigating the concepts with a series of videos from TAFP’s Payment Reform Summit last fall. Experts agreed that whether the health care system of the future is based on the patient-centered medical home, bundled payment, accountable care, or a proposal yet to be imagined, physicians will play an integral role in its delivery and success. Now you can see and hear those experts online through the video series, housed in TAFP’s practice resources at www.tafp.org/practice-resources/payment-reform.

Medicare AWVs require an HRA: Access the assessment tool from AAFP
In response to a new CMS requirement that physicians complete a health risk assessment (HRA) as part of the Medicare annual wellness visit (AWV), AAFP’s Family Practice Management journal published a questionnaire for you. Developed by HowsYourHealth.org, it meets the requirements for the HRA and can help identify health behaviors and risk factors in patients. Read an FPM article about the HRA and access the questionnaire at http://www.aafp.org/fpm/2012/0300/p11.html.
Vaccine manufacturer program helps maintain inventory and cash flow
Novartis Vaccines has committed to providing family physicians with innovative programs, myriad resources, and various forms of patient education materials to support their practices. Understanding how important it is to keep vaccines on hand for patients, and understanding that maintaining inventory for which a practice may not be reimbursed for long periods of time ties up resources, Novartis presents Menveo Manager. This program allows physicians to keep doses on hand with no advance payment. And Menveo-On-Demand provides advance shipment of a predetermined supply of Menveo (Meningococcal [Groups A, C, Y and W-135] Oligosaccharide Diphtheria CRM197 Conjugate Vaccine) with no need for payment up front. Contact Del Negron at (512) 574-2808 or delis.negron@novartis.com for more information, or go to www.novartisvaccinesdirect.com.
Help CHIP and Children’s Medicaid reach qualified populations with outreach materials
Physicians can play a role in children’s access to health care by providing information to their communities about the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Children’s Medicaid.  Families with children who get Children’s Medicaid pay nothing and children with CHIP pay no more than $50 a year for health care coverage. Some families with CHIP also may need to pay co-pays for some services. Both programs cover office visits, prescription drugs, dental care, eye exams, glasses, and more. To order free materials online such as the CHIP/Children’s Medicaid application, brochures, posters, and information cards, visit the Community Outreach section of www.chipmedicaid.org.
Chronic pain resource helps evaluate risks for opioid misuse and abuse

To order a free copy of PERFORM, visit www.PurduePharmaMedEdResources.com and register or sign in. Enter “PERFORM” in the keyword search field, click the resource title and “Add to Cart.” Finally, indicate the quantity, then “Apply Changes” and “Place Order.”
