Improve your power mobility device prescribing with TAFP video, form |
Because family physicians prescribe most power mobility devices, but rarely more than two or three annually, TAFP has developed a clinical guide and accompanying video for evaluating a patient for a power mobility device. The purpose of the guide and video is to assist the treating physician and assure conformance with Medicare’s extensive documentation requirements and face-to-face examination. The guide is not a Medicare-approved form and before using the form, physicians and practice staff are encouraged to review the DME MAC physician guidance letter, which provides a synopsis detailing the highlights of documentation requirements. Go to the Prescribing Practice page of the Practice Resources section of TAFP’s website, www.tafp.org/practice-resources/prescribing, to access the DME MAC physician guidance letter, mobility evaluation guide, and TAFP instructional video. |
