ACO legal primer now available for download |
Earlier this year, TAFP and AAFP, along with other state chapters, worked with the Smith Anderson law firm to develop two resources on ACOs: “The Family Physician’s ACO Blueprint for Success” and “The Family Physician’s Practice Affiliation Guide.” Mentioned in the ACO Blueprint document as “available upon request” is a legal primer on ACOs. Due to the popularity of this resource, Smith Anderson updated the information to include the guidance submitted by the federal regulators when the CMS-proposed ACO regulations were issued in April, and has agreed to provide the resource widely. Download the legal primer here or go to www.tafp.org/resources/new to view all three ACO guidance documents. |

TAFP presents new, free online CME offerings |
TAFP has launched three free online CME activities, originally filmed at the 2011 TAFP Annual Session & Scientific Assembly. Each includes a video of the speaker timed with PowerPoint presentation slides. The participant watches the video, then completes a five-question post-test. If passed, he or she proceeds to an evaluation and receives a CME certificate for 1 credit. There are three courses currently available with more to be added this fall. To learn more about maintenance of certification, accountable care organizations, or physician employment contracts and earn CME credit, go to www.tafp.org/education/internetCME.

AAFP uses social media to reach members, receive feedback |
To increase interaction between AAFP and the membership, the national Academy has created a new blog—AAFP Leader Voices, available at blogs.aafp.org/cfr/leadervoices. Posts offer regular updates on what AAFP leadership is doing on behalf of the members, and members can provide feedback by posting comments. Also, AAFP President Glen Stream, M.D., M.B.I., has joined Twitter and Facebook so members can receive timely updates on his official activities. Follow him on Twitter through his handle, @aafpprez, and find him on Facebook at www.facebook.com/AAFPPresident.
