How to correctly submit “brand medically necessary” e-prescriptions
Physicians electronically submitting a “brand necessary” prescription for a Medicaid beneficiary must take two steps to ensure it is filled as written. You must select the "dispense as written" option from your electronic health record system and enter the words “brand medically necessary” in the notes-to-pharmacy field. Skip these steps and you’ll likely receive a follow-up call.
