CAPITOL UPDATE: Agreement on Rainy Day Fund doesn’t avert steep cuts
Budget deliberations continue to dominate headlines as Gov. Rick Perry and House budget writers agreed this week to use a portion of the Rainy Day Fund to close the shortfall in the current biennium. The governor continues to strongly oppose further use of the fund for the 2012-2013 budget, which could make for an interesting conference committee as the House and Senate leaders hammer out the differences later in the session.

Help disaster survivors in Japan—donate to the AAFP Foundation
Family physicians moved to help the survivors of Friday’s devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan are encouraged to donate to the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation disaster relief fund. Contributions go directly to support the work of Heart to Heart International and International Medical Corps, which are currently mobilizing volunteers and preparing supplies for shipment to Japan.
